Round steel is widely used in construction, machinery, aerospace, automobile manufacturing and other fields. In the construction field, round steel is often used to make building steel structure, bridge, tunnel, etc.; in the mechanical field, round steel is often used to make bearings, gears, couplings, etc.; in the aerospace field, round steel is often used to make high strength parts such as aircraft engine shaft.

Carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel according to its chemical composition (that is, medium carbon steel and high carbon steel).
(1), low-carbon steel
Also known as soft steel, carbon content from 0.10% to 0.30% low carbon steel is easy to accept a variety of processing such as forging, welding and cutting, often used in the manufacture of chains, rivets, bolts, shafts, etc.

(2), medium carbon steel
Carbon steel with 0.25%~0.60% carbon content. There are calm steel, half calm steel, boiling steel and other products. In addition to carbon, it can also contain a small amount of manganese (0.70%~1.20%). According to the product quality, it is divided into ordinary carbon structure steel and high-quality carbon structure steel. Good thermal processing and cutting performance, poor welding performance. The strength and hardness are higher than low carbon steel, while the plasticity and toughness are lower than low carbon steel. Without heat treatment, directly use hot rolling material, cold pull material, can also be used after heat treatment. Quenched and tempered medium carbon steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties. The maximum hardness that can be achieved is about HRC 55 (HB 538), and σ b is 600~1100MPa. Therefore, in the various uses of medium strength level, carbon steel has been the most widely used, in addition to as building materials, but also a large number of used to manufacturing a variety of mechanical parts.

(3) High carbon steel
Often called tool steel, the carbon content is ranging from 0.60% to 1.70%, which can be hardened and tempered. Hammers and crowbars are made of steel with 0.75% carbon content; cutting tools such as drills, wire tapping and reamers are made from steel with 0.90% to 1.00% carbon content.
